The world we live in is becoming more and more intolerable because of environmental destruction. For example forest destruction results in decrease of planting land and unpleasant weather. In addition man is faced with problems of water pollution and air pollution.
A lot of measures have been taken. Planting trees helps improve and beautify the environment. Besides laws concerning environmental protection have been put into effect and achieved good results.
However the problem of environmental protection remains far from being solved. On the one hand the environment pollution and destruction are getting worse and worse in the modern world. On the other hand the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. In a word there is a long way to go before we enjoy a clean and comfortable world.

good evening, honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen.
it’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world, change ourselves.
it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with them.indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions.
(examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
with the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture.

Today however when we again face the "beauty of our home" we can also say? Blue sky how life used to be a brilliant landscape now trapped in the gray the clean air become very close to a desire to dream. Faced with an increasingly serious air pollution looking at the sky you say? Know of a small village called Demonstration of field do? The place was surrounded by the Castle Peak Green River Flows a beautiful place ah! However the villagers are aware of the environment no one important they are deforestation land reclamation deforestation forest gradually disappeared the stream gradually dry well water gradually withered. Today this no longer see the mountains and never see green water and the village people use very little water wash your face then keep feet and finally carefully pour the water in a vat .... .. keep pouring in ah ....... This is a natural right to their punishment which is the earth for their ambitions ah!
Students is only one earth. Earth is our lovely "home"! Let us join hands for our home planet to create a better tomorrow.

I have a dream Every one has his own dream.When I was a little kid ，my dream was even to have a candy shop of my own .But now ，when I am 16 years old ，standing here ，my dreams have already changed a lot. I have got quite different experience from other girls.While they were playing toys at home，while they were dreaming to be the princesses in the story .I was running in the hard rain，jumping in the heavy snow，pitching in the strong wind.Nothing could stop me ，because of a wonderful call from my heart -- to be an athlete.Yeah ，of course ，I'm an athlete，I'm so proud of that all the time . When I was 10 years old ，I became a shot-put athlete.The training was really hard ，I couldn't bear the heavy shot in my hands .But I always believe that "god only help those who help themselves".During those hard days，I find I was growing more quickly than others of the same age.To be an athlete is my most correct choice.But，I quit my team after entering high school because of a silly excuse.I really didn't want to stop my sports career anyway. Today I say to you my friends that even though I must face the difficulties of yesterday ，today and tomorrow .I still have a dream .It is a dream deeply rooted in my soul. I have a dream that one day ，I can run，jump and pitch just like I used to be. I have a dream that one day ， I can go back to my dream sports and join the national team. i am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
five score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
but one hundred years later, the negro still is not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languished in the corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. and so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
in a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable rights" of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."
but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. and so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. now is the time to make justice a reality for all of god's children.

Okay,let#39;s stop going around the bush and get back to my topic today.I really like to talk a funny story I have just heard.
A lady called Lucy emigrated to United States several years ago.Her spoken English is not that fluent .And one day,she is just sitting on the couch with his U.S friends Mandy watching Sit-Com.A noise of bump had the attention of Mandy,which led her to go out of the house trying to figure out what had happened.Can you imagine that Mandy go straight out with merely a sweater.So Lucy shouted at her,"Lucy ,turn your clothes on." What suprised her most,beyond her wildest imagination, is that almost all the male in this country took their head out of the window.Admittedly,Lucy made a mistake here .The word spitted means Mandy is totally naked to the reason that male looked out of the window.The right sentence shall be,"put your clothing on."The story inspires you to take a careful look on the vast difference between eastern and western culture.

we've all been taught that we should help people. it is the right thing to do and will make us popular with others. it may even win us favors in return. however, we must be realistic. we can't say yes to every request. if we did, we would fail or go crazy for sure. sometimes we simply don't have the time to help. in this case, we must know how to say no politely.
when we need to say no, here is one method we can try. first, we should tell the truth. if we really can't do something, we should just say so. second, we should remember to refuse requests politely. we must communicate clearly, but must also be sincere and sympathetic. a true friend will understand. finally, we must not feel guilty about saying no. sometimes refusing others is the right thing to do. it can save ourselves, and them, a lot of trouble. in short, we cannot please everyone all the time. refusing favors is a part of life.

Why does football get people into a frenzy？
Who is your idol？ It may be Napoleon， Picasso， or Michael Jackson. But who is my idol？ Can you guess？ It is Ronaldo. He is the No. 1 super star of football.
Football is a game in which 22 people chase one ball around a large field. The aim of the game is to get the ball into the net to score.
After all， it’s such an easy game， and yet people go crazy mad over it. The answer lies in two facts. One is the game itself. Sometimes it is beyond any description. Football is a game of passes and techniques， passion and love， more importantly， unity is the key———the whole team working as one， united they will never be defeated.
The European’s style. of play is like a Waltz， the Brazilian like a Samba， and the passionate Argentineans play as if they are doing a Tango. Football is so unpredictable， so unbelievable. You will never know who will win until the last minute. Especially when suddenly there is a goal， the fans who have been sitting on the edge of their seats， will be wild with joy and excitement； and the losers with disappointed hearts will despair over their teams.
The other is of course the super stars. Each one has his own personality， just like my idol Ronaldo. When he smiles， we all smile with him. Who can forget that buck—toothed smile， or that unique hairstyle. during the 2002 World Cup. Ronaldo was born to a poor family. He has set an example to children who can’t afford a pair of shoes， but have talent and a passion for football. He gives them confidence and hope of a better future.
Football is the game that wins everyone’s heart and the best game ever invented.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
Some of us are having problems with our parents, as they often look into our school bags or read our diaries. I fully understand why we are not comfortable about it, but there’s no need to feel too sad. Our parents are checking our bags or diaries to make sure we’re not getting into any trouble. They have probably heard some horrible stories about other kids and thought we might do the same. Or perhaps they just want to connect with us but are doing it all wrong. My suggestion is: Tell them we want them to trust us as much as we’d like to trust them. If you don’t think you can talk to them, write them a letter and leave it lying around—they are bound to read it.
