英语演讲稿1

sherlock holmes and dr watson were going camping. they pitched their tent under the stars and went to sleep. sometime in the middle of the night holmes woke watson up and said: “watson, look up at the stars, and tell me what you see.”

watson replied: “i see millions and millions of stars.”

holmes said: “and what do you deduce from that?”

watson replied: “well, if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, it’s quite likely there are some planets like earth out there. and if there are a few planets like earth out there, there might also be life.”

and holmes said: “watson, you idiot, it means that somebody stole our tent.”

英语演讲稿2

Friendship is a kind of relationship that many accompany you all your life. The relationship with your wife or husband occurs only after you are married andruns the risks of being cut down by divorce. The relationship with your parentswill be put to an end with their passing away.

The relationship with yourchildren begins late in the middle of your life. You have an association withyour colleagues, but it is always changing, because one day, one or anothercolleague may disappear suddenly out of your routine by changing jobs and youmay similarly jump out of your colleagues' lives. You have connection with yourneighbors only for the sake of living in the same neighborhood and it will breakdown when you or one of your neighbors moves.

英语演讲稿3

  John F.

Kennedy: Inaugural AddressVice President Johnson, Mr.Speaker, Mr.Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens:We observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom -- symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning -- signifying renewal, as well as change.

For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.The world is very different now.

For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.

And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe -- the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution.

Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans -- born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge -- and more.To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends.

United there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures.

Divided there is little we can do -- for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder. To those new states whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny.

We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view.

But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom -- and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside. To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required -- not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right.

If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge: to convert our good words into good deeds, in a new alliance for progress, to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty.

But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers.

Let all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas.

And let every other power know that this hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house. To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support -- to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective, to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak, and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run. Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.We dare not tempt them with weakness.

For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed. But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take comfort from our present course -- both sides overburdened by the cost of modern weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of mankinds final war.So let us begin anew -- remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof.

Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms, and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors.

Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.Let both sides unite to heed, in all corners of the earth, the command of Isaiah -- to undo the heavy burdens, and [to] let the oppressed go free. And, if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavor -- not a new balance of power, but a new world of law -- where the strong are just, and the weak secure, and the peace preserved. All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days.

Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days; nor in the life of this Administration; nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet.

But let us begin. In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course.

Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty.

The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe. Now the trumpet summons us again -- not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need -- not as a call to battle, though embattled we are -- but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation, a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself. Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger.

I do not shrink from this responsibility -- I welcome it.

I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation.

The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it.

And the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man. Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us here the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you.

With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth Gods work must truly be our own.

英语演讲稿4

  Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen:

Bidding for the Olympic Games, in a way, an image-creating undertaking. The first and foremost thing is to let people fall in love with the city at first sight, attracting them by its unipue image. What image does Beijing intend to create for itself once it has the opportunity to host the 20xx Olympics?

It is known to all that the Beijing Municipal Government has already set the theme for the future games: New Beijing, Great Olympics. For me, the 20xx Olympics will be a great green Olympics illuminated with two more special colors, yellow and red.

First, yellow is a meaningful color. The Yellow River is China’s Mother River and the descendants of the Yellow Emperor. This color has a special origin and great significance for the Chinese people. Beijing is the capital of New China and previously the capital for nine dynasties in Chinese history. So, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 20xx Games.

Secondly, the 20xx Olympics will be a red pageant.Red is another traditionally cherished color for the whole country. We adore red. On big occasions, we like to decorate our homes in red. It is the color of double happiness, representing joyous moments, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. Red is one of the most suitable colors to describe the future of Beijing . Beijing , together with the whole country, is becoming more and more prosperous in the process of modernization. Should the 20xx Olympics be held in Beijing, the whole city will be a sea of red : the red torch, red flags, red flowers, and the radiant faces of millions of joyful people.

Above all, the 20xx Olympics will be a green Olympics. Adding a green ingredient is essential in creating an appealing image, as we can’t deny the fact that Beijing, at the moment, is not as green a city as what we like it to be. Striving for an environmentally appealing city has become a central task for all the citizens of Beijing. Big efforts have been made in pollution control, replanting and beautification of the city. According to a project entitled The Green Olympic Action Plan, between 1998 and 20xx, Beijing, we have invested 100 billion RMB in preserving and protecting the environment. Some 12.5 million trees and over 1 million acres of grass will be planted along the Fourth Ring Road. By then, the city’s green area will make up 40% of its total. The city will also dredge its reservoirs used as a water supply to Beijing residents, controlling industrial pollution and moving out the 200 factories presently located within the city proper.

Certainly, all of this is no easy task. But I am sure that all of us have confidence that we will realize these green goals. For now we have the full support and participation of the environmentally conscious citizens. Each

citizen is showing great concern for every one of the steps the city government takes. As the saying goes, United, we stand, and a green Beijing will be achieved.

When our aspiration becomes a reality, it will be a unique Olympics. New Beijing, Great Olympics; will be weaved of these three superb colors: yellow, red and green.

Let us welcome it and look forward to it! Thank you!

英语演讲稿5

Everybody knows that our life is very short, so the great educators always advocate us to do what we like and pursue for our goals bravely。 Most people have many ideas in their minds and they dare not to take action, because thinking of the effort they make but what if they accomplish nothing, so they decide to give up and just live the boring life。 It reminds me of the famous words, some people just die at age of 20 but only to be buried at the age of 70。 As we are young and full of energy, it is a good time for us to fight for our future, never be afraid of failure, because it is the mother of success。 We can achieve our goals if we have patience, just to cherish time and keep fighting。

hen we should treat our friends with courtesy, be careful notto interfere unreasonably with them, and not to ridicule their proceedings. Weshould forgive their failures and do our best to help them. In short, when wehave established friendship, we ought to cherish and treasure it by means ofwords and deeds. 英语演讲稿7

  Ladies and gentlemen:

It is a great honor for me to talk about the topic with you all, my dear friends!

As you all know, there is a flinty problem that many many fresh graduates can not find their jobs today. What is worse, it seems that we have fey answer isabsolutely “ no”!

Just think, my friends, why somebody suggest our fresh graduates go abroad? Are our markets for job seekers really saturated ? Are there really bags of jobs waiting for the jobless abroad? Can the migration really put the axe in the helve? It is unlikely, in my opinion.

In some degree, It is a illusion thinking that there have been dead-alive on the labor market home. So many graduates say they can not find their jobs, so many parents worry about their young ones’ future, so many companies close the doors for job seeking…… How it just be a illusion ? Do I have a bee in my head?

First ,we should make it clear that what kind of jobs that our graduates want to take, and where they want to work? It goes without saying, only jobs providing high salary in big cities, for instance Beijing, can satisfy them. Unfortunately ,that kind of jobs are limited. Therefore, it is not that our graduates can not find jobs but that they can not find the fictive jobs , as a matter of fact. No matter how flourish and how actively a city is, it can provide numbered positions for the job seekers. What theywant is perfect, but what they can gain in the end is another pair of shoes.

In fact, in the country, in the undeveloped places, more and more persons with ability are needed. However, there are no theatres, there are no cafes, there are no KFC, and there are supermarkets… As a result, no body like to work there.

As we all know, developed countries usually have the same problem that large numbers of person lost their work, which is even serious than china. Millions of people pageant nearly every day, speaking for a piece of work. So what we can do after we get there? How can we support ourselves?

Not all emigrants live a happy life, in fact, most of them worry about their life from time to time. Digesting the culture seems always difficult, the salary stays at a low level, and the miss to their motherland always follows…

How about the developing country? Are there more jobs, higher wages and comfortable life? I am sorry ,the answer is still “no”! Plumplyspeaking, many developing counties are disordered. You can not prosuppose when the terrorists may attack you, when the epidemic may come and how can you make a living?

Now you can see, as I refered to, foreign countries are not the paradise, at least, to most of the people having gone abroad. In this case, why we still suggest our graduates go overseas? In addition, will that really be good for our country after number of fresh graduates entering overseas for their job seeking?

As the matter of our family planning policy, the aged will become more and more, which is leading to a reasonably unfavourable situation. It is said that we will not have enough work force in future. Please project yourself in that case, once it comes true, what will it happen? Factories is short of workers, hospitals lack doctors, offices are pressed for missionaries…… Now you can imagine, my dear friends, how terrible it is!

Actions speak louder than words. Some worrying reality has already occurred. Large numbers of excellent graduates go abroad every year who are from many famous universities inland, like Beijing university. It means that we have been losing the most standout person. It means that we are cultivating person for other countries for free!

  Isn’t it woefully?Isn’t it baffling?

Why we still encourage our graduates to go abroad, since there are so many potential chances? why we stillencourage our graduates to go abroad, since there are not so many fantastic jobs actually? Why we still do that, since it does harm to us?

So my dear friends, friends who have not find jobs, let’s go to the west part of our motherland, let’s go to the northeast part of hers, and let’s go to the country! There is always a way out! Our family needs us, our people need us and our country needs us! Press forward with our indomitable will, my dear friends, believe yourself!

  Thank you!

英语演讲稿8

since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse to consider factual information, for e_ample, in an unbiased manner and still claim that one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. such a belief is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do with the human ability to know. basing one's positions on what one wants — rather than unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can be cited — after all even hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory for a select group of people. clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is a requirement of honesty.

because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one always correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. it's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and e_clusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and e_plained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. ideologies and idealism often e_aggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the e_pense of the truth. this process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. to an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals.

human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good due to individual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that a decidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one can also understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for an honest, moral society. both honesty and morality require that we base our opinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is true — rather than vice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the way all ideologies would have us believe.

英语演讲稿10

Dear teachers and students

  Hello everyone!

Gorky said, "books are the ladder of human progress". The human brain is like a machine. Only knowledge can provide inexhaustible energy and power for this machine. Reading is one of the essential ways to learn knowledge well.

Over the past few days, I have read a lot of books. For example, Chinese and foreign adventure stories tells many real and soul-stirring adventure stories at all times, at home and abroad. The spirit of explorers who are not afraid of hardships and never shrink back has inspired me to face difficulties bravely; "100000 whys" can provide accurate answers to some puzzles we encounter in life; The mysteries of the universe shows us scientific wonders and the mysteries of the universe that are still difficult to solve

Among the books I have read, the one I love most is Aesop's fables. What is a fable? Fable is a genre of literary works. It conveys meaningful truth and enlightenment with figurative stories, which is often ironic or admonishing.

In the process of my growth, books have become my close friends. It not only helps me broaden my horizons and increase my knowledge, but more importantly, it makes me find the fun of reading in the process of reading.

  Books, grow up with me!

  Thank you!

英语演讲稿11

Well, this is not how i expected to wake up this morning. after i received the news, malia walked in and said, "daddy, you won the nobel peace prize, and it is bo's birthday!" and then sasha added: "plus, we have a three-day weekend coming up." so it's good to have kids to keep things in

  Perspective.

I am both surprised and deeply humbled by the decision of the nobel committee. let me be clear: i do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of american leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.

To be honest, i do not feel that i deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honoured by this prize – men and women who have inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But i also know that this prize reflects the kind of world that those men and women, and all americans, want to build – a world that gives life to the promise of our founding documents. and i know that, throughout history, the nobel peace prize has not just been used to honour specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes. and that is why i will accept this award as a call to action – a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st-century.

These challenges can't be met by any one leader or any one nation. and that's why my administration has worked to establish a new era of engagement in which all nations must take responsibility for the world we seek...

Some of the work confronting us will not be completed during my presidency. some, like the elimination of nuclear weapons, may not be completed in my lifetime. but i know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognised that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone. this award is not simply about the efforts of my administ

Tration – it's about the courageous efforts of people around the world.

And that's why this award must be shared with everyone who strives for justice and dignity – for the young woman who marches silently in the streets on behalf of her right to be heard even in the face of beatings and bullets; for the leader imprisoned in her own home because she refuses to abandon her commitment to democracy; for the soldier who sacrificed through tour after tour of duty on behalf of someone half a world away; and for all those men and women across the world who sacrifice their safety and their freedom and sometimes their lives for the cause of peace.

That has always been the cause of america. that's why the world has always looked to america. and that's why i believe america will continue to lead. thank you very much.

英语演讲稿12

Some fishermen went out drawing up their nets.

  几个渔夫外出收渔网。

They felt the nets were very heavy when they did so. They danced about for joy, and supposed that they had taken a lot of fish.

  收网时,他们感到渔网很重,高兴得跳着,以为网着了很多鱼,全是沙泥和石子,他们神情沮丧,这倒不是因为带给他们的失望,而是因为他们此前有过各种事与愿违的期盼。

When they had dragged their nets to the shore they found but few fish, and that the nets were full of sand and stones, and they were in low spirits not because of the disappointment which had befallen them, but for the reason that they had formed such very different expectation. One of their company, an old man said, “Let us stop feeling sad, my mates, for, as it seems to me, sorrow is always the twin sister of joy; and it was only to be looked for that we, who just now were overjoyed, should next have something to make us sad.”

  在同伴中有一位老人说:“伙伴们,咱们就不要悲伤了,因为我觉得,悲伤总是快乐的孪生姐妹,刚才我们快乐无比,接着就该出点什么事情,使我们感到伤心了。”

英语演讲稿13

  reading,there i am!

lots of my friends call me obama. i often wondered why they think i look like barack obama, but i finally figured it out. first, my skin is black because i often play basketball in the open air. second, i have a big mouth. finally, i always deliver my speeches loudly. my friends ask me: "are you imitating obama’s speech?" i say "no, i am imitating li yang’s!"

actually, i admire obama not because he looks like me but because he has the habit of reading. when coming across some troubles, he turns to books for help. therefore somebody said that you can tell what is on obama’s mind and what obama intends to do only by knowing what books he’s reading. should someone say that i love reading as much as obama, i will be happy.

even as a young boy i was interested in picture books and storybooks. once my class and history teacher were amazed after i gave a

detailed description of the war between liu bang and xiang yu. i was able to do this because i had read the whole story in a cartoon drawn by the hong kong artist tony wong. as you can see, i gain knowledge through reading.

last year, we had a debate competition. before the game, we collected plenty of books relating to the subject of the debate. we absorbed fresh ideas and we practiced our debating skills according to the guidance of the books. and finally, we won the game.

not only have i learned skills through reading, but i also cultivate my spirit by communicating with the noble authors. i enjoy talking with benjamin franklin. it seems that this wise man wants to show his whole life to me and give me some advice. i enjoy communicating with helen keller through our souls. i am always deeply impressed by her patience and perseverance. i enjoy listening attentively to kai-fu lee. i was suddenly

enlightened when i heard his words "be your personal best".

good books are best friends who never turn their backs upon us. i will spare no effort to read as many books as possible, not because i want to be president of a nation like obama, but because i want to pursue my own happiness. my friends, please come with me and let’s share the joy of reading.

英语演讲稿14

Three years ago, when Tyrone Duncan was jobless, recovering from a spinal injury and a stintin a homeless shelter, some volunteers at his transitional housing site encouraged him to run with them as they trained for a race.

So it’s no surprise when Duncan says running turned his life around. He is far from the only person in sneakers to make that claim. A growing number of national organizations are using the sport to help kids and adults facing such challenges as homelessness, drugs and cancer. They have a variety of names — Back on My Feet, Achilles International, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Run to Recover — but all have turned to running for the psychological and physiological benefits that training for a race can bring.

good morning, ladies and gentlemen, first, let me introduce myself. my name is aileen. i work as a new public relations manager for the westwood brewery. i’m going to be discuss the brewery’s corporate image -----in particular whether it needs to be changed. my presentation will last about 15 minutes. i will be using powerpoint for my talk. if you have any questions, i’ll be pleased to answer them at the end of my talk.

as you can see, i am going to examine three points: first, the history, second, the product, and third, the markets.

let’s begin with the company’s history. westwood brewery, based in london, is a traditional company. it was founded in 1778. and it’s still a family firm. we continue to run as a family firm and this is important for the corporate image. as you know the present owner is ben westwood. there was a takeover bid. that wraps up that point.

now, i’d like to discuss the second point, the company’s product. we use traditional production methods to produce an imperial stout. it’s described as dark, immense, rich with a depth of burnt fruitiness, this beer is an ideal nightcap. imperial stout is 50% stronger than any of the other beers in the export premium range. we also have horses. like this. do you remember that them delivering the beer to the local pubs at the last century? yes. we

use it to deliver the stout.

ok. let’s begin with the last point, the markets. we have make a larger which is european, a european type beer and sales have increased a lot over the last year. but, the production has actually dropped a little over the last few years, although profits have actually held up.

so, we need to change the corporate image. in the eyes of the public, a clearly defined company image is the identity of the company. it reflects the quality of their product or service. so, a good company image enhances public recognition and increased popularity will translate into great trading volume and profits.

we need to consider these items when changing our company image. marketing communications, pricing strategy, sales strategy, customer service, publicity and promotions.

so, if we consider that and do it very well, i believe our corporate image will be most perfect.

i’d like to stop here, i hope you have found this useful. and if you have any questions, i’d be happy to answer them now. thank you!
